Welcome to the 5 day Yoga Nidra Meditation course.

Day 2: Coming home to the body

Welcome to day 2 of this 5 day experience!

Thank you so much to those who joined yesterday, it was wonderful to have you!

Today, we're going to be focusing on connecting with the body.

The body is the container for all your experiences on this earth. Every second, your body is giving you thousands of signals. From signals about the outside environment (temperature, light, sounds, etc.) to signals about your inside environment (health, emotions etc.). Though, many of us feel disconnected from our bodies. Instead, living our lives primarily in our own heads. When you connect with your body & tune into its signals, you are better able to make decisions to ultimately benefit your emotional, mental & physical health. Often, we become accustomed to certain sensations and begin to tune them out, instead retreating away from the body and into the mind. In doing this, we also retreat away from the present moment & move into rumination of the past or future. In yogic philosophy, according to the model of the 5 Koshas, the body is the first layer of your experience & opens you up to a deeper exploration & experience of each of the other layers. When you truly give yourself the time & space to connect with your body, you may find some areas feel painful, others numb while others feel pleasurable. There's an innate vibrancy to the body. You may notice a subtle pulsing or tingling. Reflections What is your relationship with your body? Do you feel connected or disconnected? When showering or bathing, do you notice fully the sensations from the water touching your skin or do you retreat into thinking about other things? What would be it be like to feel this? When walking, can you slow down & focus on the sensations of walking? Mindfully focus on noticing the weight change between each foot. When sitting, can you take a moment to feel the surface supporting your body?
